The Tuxedo Jacket: Volume 2
If you like the idea of wearing your boyfriends blazer, you'll LOVE stepping out in his tux...he can't keep anything to himself can he? *chuckles* Meanwhile back in our closets hangs a newly cut and refined piece that compliments both evening and daytime wear. However this jacket is most fun as a replacement for your shawls or wraps when attending fanciful events. Traditionally women's tuxedo jackets have been cut to fit closely to the body, giving the curves a slimming look. Most recently, designers have ventured into more casual options for the jacket including ones that lack the satin lapel it is commonly know for and are made from a cotton/wool blend as well as cropped lengths of this style. Modern style tuxedo jackets experiment with color, seeking to go deeper than your basic black idea. The latter updates give this garment a refreshed feel and assist in transitioning more comfortably into the relaxed side of. No matter which style you try, the cut itself brings a sophisticated, on-trend mood to any ensemble.
Tips on Wearing the Tuxedo Jacket:
1. Give it the Blues: pair your tuxedo jacket with pretty things (such as a lacy camisole) underneath and skinny jeans at the bottom for an urbanite touch. If you're feeling fussy about the dressiness of it all, bring it down a few notches with riding boots as opposed to platform heels or booties and a white button down.
2. Dress it Up: as in wear it with a dress. This jacket will take a basic dress and give it flair or perfectly balance an elegant one. The tuxedo jacket is definitely the perfect mate for any formal events you attend and an even better friend for your date dresses.
3. No Tailing: stay away from tails as these added feature does NOT translate well into everyday wear. Keep your look classy by resisting any urges you may feel to overdo it. All style choices are NOT created equal.
4. Glam Accessories: the satin lapel is a great backdrop for that beautiful pin you've been spying but can't figure out what to wear with it...if it is made of diamonds it's a plus! All things in gold, platinum silver, diamonds win with this jacket. Go the bling bling route, the sparkly way with this jacket...it handles it well!
